I have a samsung digital tv with freeview inside , am I right in
thinking that they are upgrading free view to HD? Or is this via
the free sat route

Yes, but it's a different technology. You will probably have a Freeview reciever in the TV not a HD freeview reciever, so you will probably need a set top box to pick it up.0 -
Yep, your display may be HD, but the tuner inside it isn't. plugging in a FreeviewHD (or Freesat HD) box via HDMI will get you an HD picture.0
