  • Thanks all.

The two things I needed right now were to know I've inspired someone (ego trip!) and to have some kind of pushing / motivating. The last 2 posts do both perfectly so many thanks.

I have actually paid £95,000 of the £160,000 house off. £103,000 is just the highest the overdraft reached - the rest I paid in cash. So I guess that's a pom pom moment.

I have a lot of stress on my plate at the moment. My boyfriend of a few months dumped me today and work is a nightmare. This has just left me fretting about everything and achieving nothing so just by having the support of my "family" I feel I can fight another day.

Sorry to hear about the boyfriend. As you say tho, fight on - you're continuing to inspire, I worked on the layout of my ebay shop this morning.

  • A quick update.

Paid £2300 in today and have £9500 coming on Monday so I'll be down to around £54,000 then!

It's my first big deal in for a while so it's built up my confidence a bit. I think I'm on the home straight at last!

Yay, well done Lifey, see you just needed yelling at (and some bad maths) and lots of people being nice to you!

P.S. I've had a word and he's off to see your (now) ex, and he's says it's free of charge since you're doing so well paying off the house, but he'd like to be another cousin ;-)

P.P.S. Again I feel the need to point out that Harry is a fictional character, no violence was implied nor will be dealt out, sorry.

  • Hi

Sorry, I've not posted. Been feeling quite fed up about the boyfriend situation. He's not been horrible or anything so no need to send the kneecappers round - I just miss him. *sigh*

Anyway, as can be seen from my signature, I've made a big dent in the remaining overdraft and it's now £56,000. I am working on trying to get a client to pay a biggie off next week which would take it just under £40,000 but already it's starting to feel achievable. I still want to get it gone before the end of the year and preferably before Christmas!

I have been a bit naughty today and spent £1500 on new lounge furniture but forgive me, I'm depressed cos I'm going to be single over Christmas :(

I shall see what old stuff (including old lounge suite) I can ebay tonight so it's less of a chunk back onto the overdraft.

Thanks for the continuing support all.

Do use the full ISA limit. That can deliver you tax savings for the next 30 or 60 years and is worth far more than any temporary overdraft interest cost on the money.

So long as it's only for a few years, if you are normally using the full ISA limit, it's worth borrowing instead of taking money out of an ISA as well, if you're planning to use the ISA as a source of retirement income or ten years plus savings. Just because you never get back those annual allowances if you take the money out.

How's it going Lifey? Where's the overdraft up to now?

  • Just a quick update. I had a huge VAT bill which ate up lots of funds so I'm only down slightly on my last post - need to find another £55,674.

However, good news is that should be down to £33,000 next week and then I'm into the final straight.

Sadly next week is also when my tax is due which between work and personal is a staggering £34,000. :(

  • Here's the current position, though I have written my cheque for the tax so it's going to jump up by £30,000 again any day now. Boo hoo. I'll enjoy it while it lasts eh!

I'm also going to setup another thread for my own home. I want to clear the mortgage at 30. I turn 30 in April so I have 365 days from then to do it.
