Hi there my sister-in-law had a call tonight off a company called homecall. they were trying to sell her a "broadband" home telephone service. now i no this thread is just about home lines but this one got me thinking....
http://www.homecall.co.uk/phones4u/default.asp
I have looked at the site and they look really good, they say they are charging £24.99 inc VAT, a month and that is for broadband AND line rental... they say that all calls local and nationally are free up to 90 mins and say they are cheaper than BT option 3/broadband,,,,, which is 39.99
I am on broadband with AOL which i pay 24.99 and i also on BT option 3 (I like to talk!!) but surley if i am paying £50 amonth, swapping to this company would definatley save me £25....
or am i missing something here?
Any reposnse would be greatly recieved... has anyone else used this company or heard of them.... i no they are part of phones4u company... I just wondered if there was anyone else who could "guide" me on this
Cheers
Mandie

You might be better to drop to BT option 1 and then sign up to TALKTALK (Talk1+ plan) for free evening and weekend, local and national calls and 30 mins worth of free calls to mobiles per month. Calls to other TAlk Talk customers are free at all times. This is free per month for 12 months.
Sign up to 18866.com for daytime UK calls which are charged a connection fee of 1p, but the called is untimed, meaning you can talk as long as you like for 1p.

Wow! You certainly must! The £15 extra per month you are paying BT (BT Together Option 1 is £10.50 per month whereas BT Together Option 3 is £25.50 per month) would pay for 1,500 calls on 18866.clioclassic wrote:I am on broadband with AOL which i pay 24.99 and i also on BT option 3 (I like to talk!!)
I'm sure you don't make 50 calls a day, every day!30 years, 217 days!0 -

When you're signed up, you just dial 18866 before every call to a UK number starting 01 or 02 (you have to dial the full STD code even for calls to your own STD area) and your calls will cost 1p each.30 years, 217 days!0

Steve_xx, I think you mean the talk1 plan the talk1+ plan doesn't give you the mobile 30 minutes option. Unless I'm wrong.0 -
so i sign onto 18866..... and change my BT plan to option 1..... what about my broadband... ?if i go to one of these companies that offer broadband at £15...I will still be paying £25 a month pluse the 1p calls i make.... BUT if i go onto the homecall they are charging £24.99 a month for broadband AND calls would be free.... surely that seems the better option?0

Don't forget with Homecall you will also have to pay £10.50 line rental to BT.clioclassic wrote:so i sign onto 18866..... and change my BT plan to option 1..... what about my broadband... ?if i go to one of these companies that offer broadband at £15...I will still be paying £25 a month pluse the 1p calls i make.... I think your option is definitely the better choice - if you want to utilise broadband also which I truly recommend to everyone. Free UK calls also fantastic can’t beat that in fact I’m going to get my brother to change his to this package as at the moment he’s on BTOption2 and pays an addtional £23 for broadband. I'd choose it for myself but I'm on 1MB broadband and require that additional speed, hopefully they’ll introduce a 1MB version also.
I just re-read the above posting hmm... £10.50 to BT again aslo!!!!
Cheers,

yes but if you read homecall's site you can get the line rental throu them too.... for just £9.99..... so it a saving of 51p on that... so my bill would be 34.98 a month instead of £50 and that would include broadband so i too think it is a better deal... just found out thou that I have 2 months left on my 12 month contract with AOL... so will have to wait til March0
