Strange sound

No it's defintely not fridge/ freezer... that makes a noise irrespective of the month.

Surely downstairs neighbour wouldnt hear a wasps nest as well as you? That'll have to be fairly loud one would think..

I've had a wasps nest and agree it's more of a scratching sound than a buzzing. They also don't tend to return to nest in the same place year after year, so if you get it every April that makes wasps unlikely, but it does sound like it would be nature related in some way!
