Strange sound

Right... I know this sounds completely mad but there is a strange noise in my flat... and it only happens during April!

I moved into my maisonnette in March 2007. During April 2007 there was a strange noise, kind like a cat purring in your ear. It is intermittent and I know I am not mad because my neighbour down stair also says that she can hear it. By May time it has gone and does not appear until the following April.

My neighbour thought it was the sky dish vibrating in the wind - but we took that down and the sound continued. We don't have an aerial on the roof any more either. And we can't quite pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

So - has anyone got any suggestions to solve this weird conundrum?

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Bumble bee nest waking up as the queen feeds her young.
    Birds nest being used.
Bears waking up from hibernation, sleeping in your roof, using his electric razor to have a shave.

I would go with bees or wasps perhaps personally!

Is it like a tapping noise? Death watch beetle matting call?

not really tapping... more like something vibrating against something else.... or a cat purring...

  • I'd go with bees perhaps. I had a wasps' nest in the space above my bed in an old cottage I used to live in, and they made a scratchy scrapy chewing-on-wood noise. Very irritating and I lived in constant fear of them chewing through the ceiling and a wasps' nest landing on my head in the night. (one of many reasons to move...)

However, you'd notice bees I'd think.

Some other insect? Perhaps (on an empty stomach) look around some insect related websites.
