Three Video & Text & Talk free 30MB net allowance

I ordered a Nokia 6280 from Coolnewmobile last week on 3's Video & Text & Talk 700. When it eventually arrives, Three's site says that "approved customers who register before 31.8.06" get 30MB free internet access per month. This isn't mentioned on Coolnewmobile but that could just be because their info isn't up to date. I'm wondering if I'll get this offer. Thanks.

I'd phone up '3' to ask them, as they'd be able to give you the definite answer. Also, ask them to make a note of what they tell you in their notes, for future reference, in case they start charging you for whatever reason!

Thanks - sounds like good advice! And I've just had to call coolnewmobile anyway, because they wanted to verify my credit card, and they suggested talking to Three too.

Any offers that are printed on https://www.three.co.uk are valid for registered customers. It does not matter where you signed up from. Coolnewmobiles get a royalty payment from '3' for every customer that signs up through them, and the fact that they may be offering you cashback has no effect on the contract itself as regards the allowance for free minutes, texts or additional offers that may be available to you.

You should, as stated above, contact '3' expressing your interest to join this offer. I would recommend, again, as stated above, that you keep notes of what you download, where from, and when as sometimes billing errors can and do occur.

    Cheers and take care.

Ah OK - that explains the other bit - it doesn't happen automatically. I expect "registering" requires me to give them my inside leg measurement. I don't suppose the phone's sophisticated enough to be able to keep a tally on how much data has been downloaded. That would be far too useful!

If you go to Menu > Log > Packet Data, or similar, it should show you how much has been downloaded. It's normal to have show a couple KB or so, but it'll give you a good enough idea of how much has been used.

BTW, sorry if my post above there came over a bit sharp, no insult intended.

    Cheers and take care.

Thanks again. Your post didn't come across as sharp at all. Yes, I fiddled about with an interactive demo of the phone last night, and I see it's got a menu option for such a thing, which is very useful indeed.

Wasn't expecting to be surfing the net on a 100% cashback deal (fingers crossed), so that's rather good. Phone supposedly arriving tomorrow; BT Mobile's just sent me a text message offering me indecipherable incentives to stay with them (I presume they mean "1/2" price line rental but the character doesn't display...), as my anniversary is on 11th.
Will cancel on that day to make sure last cashback from Mobileshop is ok.

Got my new phone and called Three, who told me I didn't qualify for the offer as I didn't register through them. Oh well.

Ummm - having just checked with the services link, it says I have "30720kb" of mobile data allowance - which looks suspiciously like 30MB to me!

If it says that, then I wouldn't go and try to 'fix' the situation. Take a screenshot of the page showing that info, make sure you hover your mouse over the clock at the bottom right of the screen so it shows the date as well as the time.

Keep that in case there is ever a dispute on your bill about your allowance.

    Cheers and take care.

This is the "My 3" link from Planet 3 on the phone itself! Still showing 30720 as the download allowance, under "Still to use this month". Haven't made any paid calls/sent any text messages so these are still on 800/500 - i.e. I can't check how long it takes to update the figures. It may happen overnight I guess. There is also a "current spend" link, which says it is unable to retrieve information - please try later.
