Ebuyer Nightmare

Options
I have bought lots of stuff from Ebuyer in the past and have never had a problem. However, the funs seems to start when you have to return something and enter into dialogue with them...as i've recently found.

I've been trying to return a router to them for a refund throughout January and i'm still waiting for an RMA number. I sent the first one back asking for a refund and they sent me a replacement.

My last e-note took 8 days to get a reply and i've been waiting (4 days now) since Monday for an RMA number.

Their service is currently so dire that they should be doing what Screwfix recently did - suspend their service until such time that they can cope. There's not one phone number to reach them on and e-notes are being replied to in over a week. Sometimes you need to discuss options and things with someone, which is impossible with weekly responses. Even when the router is eventually sent back it still takes another week (if you're lucky) to get a refund.

I've now gone out and bought another router elsewhere, simply because I can't go on indefinitely without one. Normally I would wait until refunded.

Are they in breach of some sort of statutory rights like the Distance Selling Act?

God help me, I will NEVER do business with this company again.

I would never go back to them if they paid me. It aint worth the agro. I have nothing but contempt for them.

I certainly celebrate when they go bust, although I would feel sorry for the staff I bet they sure get some flack.

I use them a lot, the price is cheap and delivery is quick.

Touch wood, not returned anythign yet.
  • Same here we have used this site loads and have only returned two items. one was a monitor the other was a HD. Both times we had quick response and refund / exchange dont have a complaint about them.

Ebuyer made a mistake in our exchange they sent us a TFT instead of a box monitor and we kept quiet about it only cost us £60 :) *shhhhh*

I do think tho that they should have a phone number for contact. I read tho in the TOS somewhere that phone contact isnt acceptable for returns, so e notes are the only way. :(

    Good Luck....

Just an update...i'm still waiting for my RMA number so I can return the item. That's 7 days now! When they should have refunded me in the first place they sent me a replacement.

When I returned the first item, they forgot to refund my return postage of £6.55, they are now saying that I have to send them proof of postage for a postage refund, which I don't have now, as I binned it once they received the item. Their negligence and they're making me jump through hoops.

This is a complete PR nightmare revelation.
  • I buy loads of stuff from ebuyer, usually the cheapest around.

I have had to return a couple of things, yes it took about 10 days to issue a refund but to be fair, that was in the run up to Christmas.

    Maybe I'm just lucky.

I used to be in the 'cant fault them' category. but now I'm not

tried to return a dvd rewriter - looks like they have tried to replace it from their stock - which is 0 as its now discontinued.
so no update to my account - still looks like its replaced with a delivery date of mid jan!
waiting 10 days now for a reply to an e-note

beware ebuyer if you want a good returns service.

Still waiting for my RMA number. That's over 10 days now.

If I check the status online it says they are processing it still, but for some reason they've changed my refund request on it to "direct replacement", which would mean it will be the second replacement they've given me by mistake instead of a refund. I suspect the request is lost/stuck in the system.

I sent them an e-note for something else on Monday (4 days ago) which hasn't been responded to. The e-note is due to the fact they forgot to credit me for return postage on a faulty returened item and they're now telling me I need to send in proof of postage for a refund for it.

In the meantime, I can't send them another e-note until i've cancelled the current one and can't re-submit the RMA request either as it says item already awaiting return.

All this has been going on now since the start of the year. Can anyone think of a worst way to do business and run customer service?

If you do a google on them, there are numerous complaints about them. Some people have had to resort to reporting them to trading standards and taking them to the small claims court to get their money back. It seems to be a case of buyer beware with them.
