TalkTalk Phone and Broadband

All you've been sold is the standard LLU TT Essentials package: £11.49 line rental and £6.99 broadband and calls. It's not any kind of special deal, that's the standard online price. Except they've conned you into a 24 month contract rather than the standard 18m one.
And you have missed out on Quidco's £50 cashback for Essentials.
I hope you will find it as easy to cancel with TT as it was to sign up...
Yep, lets hope so!0 -
cancelled! They didn't seem to have any objections to my reasons for wanting to cancel which were:
1. I got a letter today saying that my speed would be 800kbps (currently get about 1.8Mbps).
2. T&Cs state can't be used for "business use" so it's not suitable. What business use ;-)
3. 18 month contract available online. This was never given to me as an option.
4. download limit of 40GB may be too restrictive and it's less than the unlimited that I get now.
When the girl asked me if there was anything else she could help me with I asked how much it would cost to upgrade from the free weekend calls that I currently get with my talktalk landline to the evening and weekends. She told me that it would be £2.50 so I said that I'd go through my bill and work out if i'd save anything. She said that was fair enough and gave me my caller display which I currently pay £2.50 for free. Possibly a current offer that I could get through my account anyway, but good of her to offer it.
This has taught me to stick with my usual NO stance from sales calls!0 -
I have just ended my contract with Talk Talk after their calamitous attempts to set me up.
I originally "switched" in December via phone but after a long wait I called to check progress only for them to inform me my order had become inactive but they were unable to tell me why.
They reproccessed my request and after a visit by an engineer my phone line finally became "active" on February 17th. The broadband should've become active within 2 weeks of this.
I believe I was more than patient but after 4 weeks I gave them a call to check the progress of this. I went through to a wonderful overseas call centre and spent 20 minutes whilst the operator was enquiring the system(s) to see what the delay was but eventually decided they'd call me back as their systems were running slow. An hour later I received a call telling me they didn't know what the delay was, but I'd have my router in 5 days and my broadband would be live within 7.
A week passed, nothing happened, another call to check order progress, no answers and my order is "escalated".
Again nothing and another call a week later but select the "cancellation" option in the hope of getting someone a bit more clued up. What do you know, they are, can't understand the delay but promise to sort it all out and I give them another week.
Another week, another call to cancellations, another promise, one last chance granted.
Week 8, nada, zilch, nothing. Called, cancelled, useless.
I'm not in the sticks, I'm in mainland UK, Birmingham, 20 minutes stroll from local exchange.0
