Moving into rented accomodation - and looking to setup with sky/virgin

Firstly I'll be signing a 6month initial lease (likely to stay longer though)
Are all Sky and Virgin contracts minimum 12 months?
If I was to move after 6 months, can I simply keep up with the 12 month contract by changing it to a different address?
Probaly a question I should be asking my landlord, but would there be any issues in getting sky or virgin for a rented property?
Any other advice would be most welcome :j

All contracts are minimum 12 months. If you leave you may be able to move the contract (if the service is available where you go) or you may have to pay a fee, depends what service you take and where you move.
You'd also need to check if you have a dish or cable already. If not you'll need the landlords permission to install the services, and this may be required by Sky / VM before they will do the install. Check with your landlord or letting agent.0 -

Not only that, but in the case of VM,if you're moving into an upstairs flat & the residents below you own their own properties, you MUST obtain their permission to run a VM Drop Cable accross their property & up their wall to your flat,it's called a 'Wayleave'.
If however it's a council block,& the people below dont own their properties, then in 90% of cases, the council/housing authorities give a blanket permission to install VM/Sky.
If it's an old building, you must also check it's listed status.
With Sky,you can move within contract but they charge a 'House Move' fee of around £40-60.
I know when I worked for NTL/VM,they used to do the same but it's worth calling them to check.
