Just get yourself a Googlemail account, it takes about 10 minutes. Once done, you can move ISP's as often as you like without having to wory.
At some point AOL will cut off your email address, but it could be active for a long time first. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
While I fully agree that a Yahoo or Google Email is probably the best idea. You can keep your email address with AOL for as long as you like. I've had mine for several years and we were told when we switched providers by AOL that we were allowed to continue using the email address.
It's worth pointing out this is probably linked to the fact that anyone can sign up for an AOL email account whether they are your Internet provider or not much like the alternatives mentioned above.0 -
If you're using Outlook there's some tips on changing email when you're changing provider here - http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/broadband-guide/faqs/change-email-when-switching-broadband-provider.html - my mum was really worried about it when she switched. Sorry if AOL is via an online account!0

Are you referring to the clunky old AOL software, or the AOL email address? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
