I've always been taught that it should, if they have more experiance / no claims than you.

Any idea if this is not the case??

    Hi,

Long time reader, first time writer.

I've followed Martin's tips on how to get the best car insurance quote.

I checked my job status (trainee office manager) and changed it to something similar with better quotes (assistant manager), i've been through every site mentioned using the following information:

    I'm 22
    New driver
    Third Party Fire & Theft
    Parked on a street
    Under £6000 m/py
Ford Focus 2000 1.4ltr Zetec (market value around £1,200)

and the best quote i've found is £1865.98

Now, it isn't awful, in fact if I pay using a 0% interest credit card (12 months) then the monthly repayments are £155.41, which is around what I expected to pay, but I was really expecting to get much closer to £1500.00

Is there anything i'm doing wrong?

The thing is, i'm getting a ridiculous deal on the Focus since i'm buying it off my brother.

It's a Ford Focus 2000 1.4ltr zetec, MOT passed last week, tax renewed last week, no crashes, full service history, 79k miles for £900.

I don't think i've ever seen a better deal since he's selling it to me at the price offered by the garage.

Jeez I'm only 21 and I pay £500 quid roughly fully comp with a 150x/s and my dad as a named driver... Even when I started driving at 17 with a ford fiesta it was only about £1600-1700.. insurance gone up loads eh :( all those whiplash/fraudulent claims people make!

yes but it doesn't take away the young inexperienced driver it just adds more risk, I still don't get it.............
Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool

  • My husband passed his test about 2 weeks ago and tried to insure a rover 45 1.4 which was given to him by my uncle and the best quote we could find was £1300 third party, fire and theft - by adding me as a named driver it brought it down to £479 :)

I have had my licence for 10 years and have 9 full years no claims.
