Can I ask a quick question about NSDs - does this include paying out bills/buying petrol? I want to start counting mine - I've managed about a week without spending any money, however I will need to fill the car later.0

It depends ... on the NSD thread (DFW board) some people count direct debits and others don't (or count all the ones for the month in one go). Aside from that, pretty much everything else counts.
However, I think others run NSDs for groceries only ..... depends on what you're looking to achieve I guess.

Hi BR
Nice to see you taking the plunge on here from the DFW board. I'm a long time lurker and to be honest, if it wasn't for these wonderful peoples advice and common sense, I would be nowhere near being sorted. This place is a lifesaver and has changed my outlook on everything over the years.

Thanks for this: I've joined the challenge. I am nowhere near DF yet.

My budget is limited for the month till I get my next payment so it's definitely Cupboards, Freezers, and a little help from Waitrose. ( I hate Tesco and Tesco or Mr T is notoriously bad for my budget and financial planning no matter how extravagant it looks!!!).#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Help! I have painfully little to live on till next payday.I don't get another payday till the 25th.
I have run out of butter, chicken stock cubes (kallo organic), long life milk is running low. Mr T would not let me spend so I had to abandon an £80 shop which became a £25 which I was not allowed to spend.
I am no good at this frugal thing.
I am trying to live off what I have in the cupboards freezer as much as possible but it is too much of a struggle.
HELP!#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

I also need to book my fare to scotland to inverness if it's the one big spend I do so I can get a bargain berth on the Caledonian Sleeper, 12 weeks in advance. I need to be in Scotland as soon as possible as I fear Scottish friend is mentally ill and suffering anxiety disorder. He has gone awol (nothing new) but I have never had anything like this. I need to suss things out with him as well as be there for him and us to enjoy ourselves.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Don't panic Mr Mainwaring! Can you do a list of what you have got, then maybe we can all help work out what you can make stretch until your next payday. Everyone has problems being frugal, I think our society has cultivated an inability to accept it as the norm which it is for about 80% of the planet's population.:jMoney saving eco friendly Fertility reflexology specialist :j0 -
OK I will.
I am considering breaking into my £365 in 365 days money box to buy chicken stock cubes and butter perhaps one or two more items. I am hopin and praying I can do a shop at Waitrose online and limit my spending to basically no spending short of securing that one way?? ticket to Inverness this month?.
All my 0.99p Amazon spending this month has been my downfall!#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
