  • how about porridge oats made with water for brekky instead of crunchy nut? I make 4 oz with 1 pint water and a spoonful od dried milk stirred in, zap in microwave then serve with sultanas, keeps you going all morning.

    Morning all,

    Will def try those debtmess

Just got a small turkey crown out of the freezer which we are going to have for dinner tonight with veggies ans pots, the leftover meat is going to be tommrow nights dinner or hm chips , turkey and mushy peas yum !

Whilst im trying to cut back, i have to say im finding myself feeling cut off, its amazing how much i rely on going to the shops for an hour as a pastime :@), I do have other hobbies like crochet and wtih two big dogs thers always things to do so need to immerse myself into these i think.

Its so suprizing how much £3.00 here £2.00 there really add up, another problem of mine is impulse buying , i have started to get better at this by jst not takig my debit card with me when i go shopping, hard but worth it.

Ohh jst remembered i have some blackberries in the freezer so will whip up a crumble for pud tonight , treat for hubby finishing work, do you have to use cooking apples or can u use normal ?

hope u all have a good day.

I would cook the apples as you would cookers- they wont `pulp` in quite the same way but I think it would work- have seen apple recipes using eating apples. Let us know !

Bella79, can you go to lidl this weekend? 2.5kg spuds are 49p(sat+sun only) and 1kg carrots 29p until wednesday. Worth stocking up for a few weeks if you can get there easily and have somewhere to store all the spuds!

I think I'm going to be living off the cupboards and minimal money until... i don't know? i don't have much money or wages coming in until the end of december. I'll get ~£200 sometime next week to last until then, and that includes most christmas shopping and bills(but thank god not rent! i'm so broke because i just paid £1800 in rent!!)

;) Bella try and keep the empty outer box of your current brand of crunchy cornflakes and "slip" the new packet of lower brand inside- It may just work to get an unbiased opinion of the downsized brand.

    hi all,

Made the apple and blackberry crumble with normal apples and i have to say couldnt tell the diff yummy allround !

Grrr im so peeved i missed that offer at lidl, its only round the corner from me, i didnt call in to stop myself impulse buying ha

On another note i got some aldi crucnhy nut and there lovely the best ive tried it does say on the box "new recipe" and there a big thumbs up from us.

Dogs are def getting changed over to wagg food from next month that will save me £30.00 a month which for us is a massive amount, and by calling the unsurance company ive also got there dog insurance lowered without lowering the package, as they had forgot to put my multi - pet discount on !

Ive also re shopped around for life insurance for me and dh, and ive halved that now so a big :@)

And ive jst put in to transfer my gas/elc to edf saver 7, which according to figures should save us about £200 pa

So all in all a good weekend i think, my mum turned up again earlier with 2 ariels, 4 cans deodrant,4 bags flour and 3 cans corned beef, bless her x

have a good night, jst gonna make a cupa b4 xfactor

  • This may be a dense question but i find tins of chickpeas and barley more expensive than the dried- do you need to soak both before coaking, and how long for?

    Thanks
