It does - it just doesn't guarantee delivery. Recorded are entered in to the system the same way as special, but they go with the ordinary mail.

No, Paypal will require the buyer to have proof of delivery, Recorded delivery does not guarantee that, whereas Special Delivery does.

Hi guys, after doing a bit of research it looks like Im fighting a lost cause as it seems the seller previously had an account in march but no activity since a few bad feedbacks and it looks like theyve opened another account sometime in march, I think I should put it down to experience and count myself lucky as the buyers that had left bad feedback on his last account had been fleeced for over £1000, its amazing that this person can open another account the same month as they basically done the same thing to others but to higher amounts, thanks

You will have proof of delivery, if it's delivered of course. Otherwise they couldn't sell the service. Every recorded item I've sent has an online confirmation. One went missing, but that can happen to special delivery.

I wouldn't give up that easily - I'd be on the phone to Ebay getting them to investigate it..! It's not about the money, it's about the principle - this kind of ebayer gets the rest of us a bad name!!

Then you have been very lucky for all your items to track as delivered, as the majority of the time this just does not happen. You are not guaranteed proof of delivery even if the item is delivered, the system just does not update that information for Recorded all the time. Also, some posties just put recorded delivery items through the letter boxes without asking for a signature ...
