Stop dogs pooing??

but it's not the dogs' fault - it's the owners.
I have 2 dogs and i take my dogs to the park and I always clear up after them.
Can you not follow the offending owners, bag up the poo and post it through their letter box? Alternatively if you see it happening, would confronting the owner have any effect? If not, I would bag it as soon as they walked past then would run up to the owner shouting "excuse me but you've left this behind". When you catch up with them, hand them the bag and let them know they left it behind. I bet they soon stop walking past your house.
If you don't have any poo bags you could get from a local park, nappie bags are just as good. Would just save you trying to fumble with a carrier bag (which may have holes in it anyway)!0 -

I am trying to keep an eye out for these dogs but only caught one peeing and i did follow it and knock on the door and the guy did appologise and said if you do catch him again let me know and i'll tidy the mess up..it was an old dog and the guy was very sorry and said he did take it for walks in the morning and night but as he has been sorting his garden out the dog must of crept out.
The misses just keeps laughing at me now coz i'm constantly on about catching these dogs and i wont tidy it up myself as the smell makes me heave. I might put a sign up saying " This is not a sh*tting area!"0 -

are these dogs wandering about without their owners?0 -
I really dont know.. the one i caught yesterday weeing on the grass was.. but don't if that dog had done all five or if theres other dogs.. woke up this morning and there was another one. If they are with the owners and i catch them then the owners gonna get a mouthful... and a handful of crap!! hehe
Everyone elese grass seem sh*t free but mine seems like the dumping area for some strange reason!!0 -
i have tried bottles of water, "keep off" etc. the best i found was sprinkling naptheleen flakes (sorry i dont remember how to spell it) basically moth crystals/ balls. i even bought round moth balls and tucked/ buried them under the grass.. so no kids would think they were lollies & eat them...(eventually they disolve away & need replacing) so flakes are probably safer. although your garden will smell like a old persons wardrobe for a few days. the other one i was told was sprinkle LOTS of pepper or chilli flakes. I have used black pepper in a grinder as its heavier than white pepper and settles whereas fine white pepper blows away. i used both these methods when training my dogs not to poo where i didnt want them to..ie under my clothes lines & certain garden beds. These ideas were suggested to me by the breeder as she explained dogs like to sniff before they sh--, and they hate the smell, so they find somewhere that smells better...(maybe the neighbors instead) its worth a shot if nothing else works. good luck.0

Wasn't aniseed balls the weapon of choice for anti hunt protesters? It affects the dogs sense of smell, so maybe that could help?
Or how about some very spiky plants?0 -
My parents had this problem in their old house. The solution was to find the owner of the dog and return thier property to them by posting the poo through the letter box.0

In the small town im from in south africa, everyone put two or three 2litre fizzy drink bottles (without the wrapper) with water in it in there gardens and it definitley stopped (stray) dogs from pooing there. I think its to do with the sun reflecting off the bottle which scared them off. But this being England and not much sunshine, i dont think it would work as good. :rolleyes:0
