moneymummy wrote:Have just joined up and selected the 3 dvd's at a time to be sent. Now wondering if this was silly as after sending back the first three I am going to be sent the next three which will automatically take me to the sixth rental! I think I might try the earlier idea of sending just two back and clearing the selection after the next two are dispatched, then cancelling! Complicated but better than paying out the £15 subscription. Hope the cheque turns up - anyone got theirs yet?
I have done the same mistake...can u please explain a bit more that...by clearing selection u mean the movies i have selected they have to be cancelled & then return the 3rd dvd & then cancel subscription?0 -
I thought it was worth pointing out that you now have to phone Screenselect to cancel rather than be able to do in online via your account. This is a new change as I've used them on and off for years and you've always been able to cancel on the website.
However, apart from holding for ages (they say it's a freephone number....0808....) it was simple enough to cancel and I didn't get the 3rd degree or a hard sell which was the main thing. Just waiting for that £10 chq to arrive.....Quidco ~ £3,718 | Greasypalm ~ £354 | Freefivers ~ £45 | Pigsback ~ £260 shopping vouchers + 15 CDs
Total cashback / freebies / money-saving: 2006 ~ £3,961 | 2007 ~ 3,610 | 2008 ~ £4,159 | 2009 ~ £1,449

Still waiting for tennerthe Money Saving Expert team do not moderate forums, so if you see something that shouldnt be here report it! :beer:0 -
Ive got caught out and been charged £14.99..ouch!! What do i do now..cancel straight away so no risk of them billing me for another month..or wait till end of month to cancel so get another few rentals outta em first??
Oh, and i havnt got my tenner from them either :mad:love my little man he is amazing :j0 -
I subscribed and cancelled before the 21 days are up, but won't cancel until they receive any disks not yet returned. But because of the Bank Holiday and the weekend they will receive the disk on the 21st day which enables them to charge for an additional month. Also I think I took out a TESCO dvd offer some months ago so ScreenSelect will probably say that I am not entitled to the tenner, which I still haven't received. So money savers beware and read the small print otherwise you could end up losing some money.0

Well, I email screen select to see where my tenner was this is what they replied,
'Thank you for your email.
The £10 gets credited to your account, which means no money will taken off your
card, instead it gets taken off your account.'
I think they were coning us, so does this mean I get a free month???????:jWaiting for the comping fairy to arrive, a big thank you to all that post comps:j0 -
I got an email from them yesterday, saying they were having delays with the promotional cheques and it would be with me soon.
On another point, I cancelled my subscription today and a message appeares saying if my final disc was not back before 29th I would be charged and to remember there is a bank holiday....this is impossible to reach them before as they don't...conveniently..work at the weekends. I also got an email to say that the discs had to be back ON or before the 29th so I hope I'm ok
If I get charged I will email customer support to say;
a. i have received 2 conflicting messages to when the disc needed to be back so it is null and void.
b. I have read closely at the terms and conditions and it does not state about bank holidays and weekends.
c. most importantly, i signed up to an agreement where i would receive my £10 within 5 days, this has not been done, so they have broken their side of this agreement so therefore I can leave without charge.
MY ADVICE IS DON'T BOTHER WITH SCREEN SELECT..FAR TOO MUCH HASSLE

Further to my original gripe they have e-mailed to say the following so I agree with Barum unless you are meticulous with reading all the small print and are organised with dates as to when to return items it is NOT WORTH THE HASTLE FOR A TENNER! It has cost £4.10 to ensure the DVD is delivered back today by the Post Office. This is the original e-mail I had from Screenselect. I shall reply saying that I couldn't possibly have seen all 10 DVD's in the time scale of 21 days anyway and that they are nitpicking to get out of their obligations.
Thank you for your e-mail.
According to our records you added 9 titles to your selection when you signed up
on 09/08/06. As stated on the promotional material one of the requirements to
qualify for the offer was to complete the registration which includes adding at
least 10 titles to your selection.
As you did not add 10 or more titles at the time of registration unfortunately
you are not eligible for this offer.
Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
Fumi

It then becomes Screenselect's problem to chase up Royal Mail. G0
