How to pay a 20p credit card bill ?

in Credit cards
Hubby has a Halifax one credit card which we thought we'd paid off in full last month (after ringing them and asking exactly how much to the penny was needed to clear it).
The statement we've had through shows :
Balance brought forward £61.30
Payment received £61.30CR
Interest Charged this month
Cash at 1.736% per month (22.95% pa) £ 0.20
your balance £0.20
minimum payment to be made of £0.20
We're not sure why we have any interest due this month as we paid the last bill on the day it arrived. I can't deal with the account as I'm only a named card holder and DH being DH wouldn't bother to ring them to find out why there is a 20p charge.
Internet banking will not allow me to make a payment under a £1. Do you think if I sent a cheque they'd accept it ?

Do you have a Halifax branch near you that would allow you to pay over the counter? I once had a final payment of 2p to pay and the only bank in town that would accept payment was the RBOS and they wanted to charge me as I don't have an account with them! I sent my Dad in with the slip (no name!) and the 2p and he paid it as he does have an account. If I had been sending it through the post I was going to let them pay the postage at the other end due to them being so awkward!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

You are paying interest on the interest because you took cash out. You can send a cheque, although to save a stamp, you could pay 20p at the branch.0 -
Last time that happened to me I rung them up about it and they waived it. Phone them before you do anything..!
Although the account in question was an MBNA one.0 -
Thank you for the replies. It's odd as DH has got the same thing on barclaycard this month with 12p owing but they're not asking for a payment.
I wish DH would stop taking cash out on his credit cards. I've been trying to convert him into MSE mode but he's resisting all attempts ! At least bar a grand total of 32p, the cards are all clear. There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

Phoning them may result in them clearing it off - esp if you are closing the accounts. You can often pay by debit card over the phone - kind of silly for them to actually accept it though as the processing fee will be greater than the money they get for the payment.
Alternatively you can pay in at a branch or send a cheque
Given that the 20p will be incuring interest too it may be worth adding an extra penny to it to make sure you dont get another tiny bill next monthAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

I've always taken the approach of paying a cheque in at the counter if its not going to cost you anything - it will cost them more to have the cheque cleared than the money you owe them - which is a happy thought0

My friend was going into the halifax today so she's paid the 20p in for us.
I don't understand why the 20p could accrue interest, surely they can't keep charging you when you've paid it off in fullThe estimated interest for next month is £0.00

Mother had 0.02 on her Egg card after it was settled, they just took it as the next minimum payment.
Now the account is settled
They should just take itNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
i owed IF 2.27 in interest charges which they waived for me0

I would send them a cheque for 21p. Then they have to keep writing to you every month to tell you you are 1p in credit. Just so that you can have the last laugh at them!2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
