Free Broadband with Virgin?

Options
I have just cancelled my installation with Virgin and they called me to offer me 6 months free broadband. Has anyone else been offered this? And is there a catch?

Not on Virgin cable, but remember there is no such thing as "free" so there will be a catch somewhere no doubt

Perhaps a more Virgin aware poster will be along soon

The retentions team do have an outbound team that call some customers that are cancelling and offer them some really great deals that cannot be matched by anyone else in the company (even the inbound retention team).

I would imagine there is no catch, the only difficulty if you did not take it then and there is taking the offer up. If you call the disconnection line you will probably be able to speak to someone who can locate the person who made your offer

The question to ask is-what are the terms for the second six months? Because if you accept that offer, you will be on a new 12m contract, and they'll be looking to get their money back over that latter period.

There's a special offer at the moment through some comparison sites that gives you three months free plus a £40 credit on your bill (so effectively 6 months free) with Virgin Media broadband L and Phone M so maybe they're just offering you that?

Agree with Macman, it really depends on the terms for the rest of your contract but I wouldn't be too suspicious - it's worth their while to keep you esp with extras, that's how Sky can offer 'free' broadband all the time!

More details on that offer here:

Agree with the other posters, it could be free for 6mths, then 18 months at full rate, i.e. 24mth contract.
    Move along, nothing to see.
