Yvonne, when you get buyers like this asking for unreasonable terms etc it is best avoiding them. You had that opportunity in this case (most times you don't) you shopuld just reject their offers. I have pulled salers before now to avoid certain buyers. You start to get a sixth sense when buyers are going to be difficult and cause problems. Avoid them in the future.
  • Thanks Hintza,

I thought with the high feedback on 100% it would be ok & it was only magazines not something high value IYKWIM.

I've had the same thing before when clearing out. I charged £4 postage and packing for something. The postage itself was £2.50, the big jiffy back was £1.00 and some extra bubble wrap so it was very close to the £4.00 mark and I received a negative for excessive postage charge.

My point is it wasn't excessive, they only looked at the value on the postage label. They knew the postage when they bought, if they thought the postage was high, don't buy or report me for excessive postage (knowing ebay they probably would have agreed).

Newbies always do that. It's part of ebay. I now block people like that so they cannot buy again.

I also had someone complain the item was better than they expected and this somehow was a negative thing as the item was not as described.

Another person destroyed the item I sent and wanted a refund. Yes they admitted destroying an item because they didn't like it and therefore I should refund them as they weren't happy with their purchase.

All these experiences have made me become ruthless with people who ask "silly" questions and block them too. If someone asks can they get an item sent to USA within a two days or seems not to grasp basic selling skills or how ebay works (ie wants the item now, right now, drop everything, or does not know how to use a buy it now button).

Harsh I know but I found that people who do not know how to use ebay and ask those kind of "silly" questions before purchasing turn out to be the people who moan afterwards (the examples above asked silly questions) for completely unreasonable reasons and end up giving you a bad feedback. I know some genuine people slip through and I feel bad about that but I've found it works.

My thinking is that my time sorting these messes out cost me money and I'd rather not sell to the 1/100 people who I think provide a big potential risk to causing me problems. I view it as money saving in the long run.

I know a bit judgemental but it makes ebay a lot easier for me.

On another note, I went on holiday recently and set my holiday settings on. People could still buy (big mistake) but they would be warned items would not be sent until we returned. People did not read the holiday message or choose to ignore it and after 3 weeks I had some negatives. I explained the situation to all of them (I did not leave bad feedback in return) and all offered to remove the feedback beacuse of the way I resolved the issue.

If the person is understanding they'll remove it. If not, put it down to another bad ebay experience to learn from.

    Good luck with ebay
