World Cup 2010, Which cards/stickers to collect?

I'm really hoping you lovely people can help me as I have managed to get myself really confused by the World Cup cards/stickers:rotfl:

I have told my DS (6) that he could collect stickers for the World Cup which I remember doing when I was a kid. Now my head is obviously still in the 80's as I was just expecting to pick up a panini sticker book and collect away. But when we went to WH Smith's there were Match Attax and Panini cards to choose from. I've just had a quick search online to see if I can work out what would suit him best. The stickers, I don't think, are out yet and I could only find information on the cards from proper collectors sites, who managed to confuse me more:p

Any one have any ideas which would be best for a sports mad 6yr old who loves facts and figures?

TIA

Having grown up in the '70s and '80s then Panini stickers would be the only choice. The Panini stickers have just come out recently.

Try ASDA for stickers/cards as they do 5 packs for £2 (usually 50p each).

Either way, it's expensive to try to fill an album but a lot easier now I'm in my thirties with pocket money in excess of £1 per week :)

I will of course be buying them for my 4 year old son. Not for me. At all.

My lad is an avid collector of football stuff. Match Attax not Pannini is the future - apparently. Starter Binders are £4 in Asda, £4.99 in Tesco, but individual packs in Tesco (50p each) come with an extra player from the past who your lad will have never heard of. He's collected them for several years and I've come to the conclusion that these companies are extremely skilled in extracting every last drop of pocket money in order to finish the collection. Still good fun though.

Match Attax definitely, I have an almost 8 year old who is obsessed, as are all his mates. He will do any kind of household chore for the promise of 50p to buy a pack. The Album is good quality, and there's even a bit of maths to it, to get the cards in the right pockets, as they aren't numbered. He had the SPL ones too, and got loads of doublers, but for some reason he has been really lucky with the World Cup ones, and gotten hardly any. They also have some sort of banding / rating thing on them too, which the kids get all excited about.

Me, OH and nephews are collecting the pannini adrenalyn world cup cards. You can only buy them in limited places but we love getting the packets and putting them into the correct wallet spaces! :) 50p a pack, we usually get them from Tescos. The folder it comes in is also really good quality, meaning the cards will be kept in great condition for the future.

BTW, we did the stickers last year and found the kids ended up trading/losing them or sticking the spares all over the house! :P Kids were 5 and 7 at the time.

Panini is so much better than Match Attax - Panini are ideal for kids of all ages.

I know this isn't quite the same, but for any cash-strapped moneysavers you can build a virtual Panini album online. Ideal for kids I would imagine.
    I can't post a link as I'm new(ish!) but this en.stickeralbum.fifa.com/game/flash should get you there :)
The stickers are free and you get new packs daily (2 per day).

There are also promo codes for extra free packs and hidden stickers around the fifa site. I think there will also be codes on Coke bottles for extra "free" stickers but I haven't seen any yet. You can also do swapsies with any duplicates you get.

Warning: This is very addictive! I'm really enjoying building my collection though. You can also make a team with 11 friends.

I got a sticker book free in last weeks news of the world. It looked like one of the ones from my childhood. You are welcome to it for your son if you PM me.
