Pressure mounts on "Saint" Vince Cable

As I suggested the other day, it looks like Vince Cable is starting to get a bit of pressure - being treated as a politician rather than the sage avuncular commentator he aspires to be.

voluntary - I'm Deputy Chairman of the local Association.
I'm also a District Councillor in North Dorset, elected as a Conservative.

i think it does

with the current incumbents it's all too easy but it would be interesting to see if you'd mock David Cameron or Osborne when they're found out...

if you don't, it comes across like you're electioneering on an internet forum.

Not sure I get this. So if I'm not "involved" then I'm allowed to do whatever I like, but if I have put my money where my mouth is, so to speak, then I'm not entitled to voice my opinion? It seems that there are enough astro-turfers from Labour HQ here...

Consistently on this forum there has been the suggestion that Vince Cable is some great champion of the people. I recently noted that he was getting a bit more scrutiny (at which point sometime told me I was being childish) - so it seemed appropriate to flag up when that scrutiny had indeed come to bear.

I wasn't mocking - I don't really do that, it seems a bit distasteful. I suspect that this close to an election I'm less likely to go off beam, and will probably duck the debate, because anything off-message would probably be used against me. If - rather than when, by the way - Cameron and Osborne in time do something daft I will be honest in my response to it - kind of the same way I am in the pub, at work, or with friends.
