Pressure mounts on "Saint" Vince Cable

On the one hand we complain because politicians do not engage with ''us'' the normal people in a ''real'' sense, on the other, we want to know when they do...that seems fair. Of course, we really do know who Nick is...I'm not sure there is a problem as he's never concealed his real life situation.0

Nico wasn't engaging, he was mocking a politician in another political party...lostinrates wrote: »On the one hand we complain because politicians do not engage with ''us'' the normal people in a ''real'' sense, on the other, we want to know when they do...that seems fair. he wouldn't dare do that about David Cameron or anyone else in his own party that he is working for to win an imminent election.0 -
I wasn't mocking - I don't really do that, it seems a bit distasteful. .
"Saint" Vince Cable ?
its refreshing that you use your own name, and are prepared to argue Tory policies (which your leadership don't seem to bother), but save us the sanctimony.US housing: it's not a bubble

that's all good Graham but your only contribution to this thread was a weak little dig accusing me of thanking Rochdale's posts just because i dared question Tory Nick's intentions...Graham_Devon wrote: »You should have taken that route, instead of making yourself look like a 2 year old.
so maybe the 2 year old is actually you. jog on now...0 -
With his 'mansion tax', Wince Cable is no friend of the £1M+ property owner!0

Can't see a problem with the thread. There are fair few on here slagging of Brown and Cameron who I get the impression are involved in politics.
There was an interesting article in one of papers recently pointing Mr Cables errors over the last few years and change of opinions.
I'm a huge fan of Cable but its nice to know also sides to Mr Cable and his opinions that have been wrong0 -
Sir Vince Cable, lol. I really cannot see it. I have said before that 8 or so years ago, I and a couple of other friends wondered why house prices were inflating at an amazing rate of knots yet there was little wage inflation. The first of the stock market crashes of the decade.
Vince Cables warnings, long after they were due, were pretty obvious.0 -

Christ, you must be loaded.0 -
The liberals know that they have the luxury of their policies never being put to the test so they can say what they like.
Why, then, would they say that they wouldn't ring fence the NHS nor promise to keep VAT at current levels? Why would they say they are getting rid of child trust funds and consider a huge over hall of public service pensions.
As third party, the Lib Dems realise that the only way to gain votes is to be seen as an honest and credible party. The result is to be quite straight laced about the scope of cuts, however unpopular these changes may be. And it's not a recent Dr Vincent Cable induced change either: even in the 90s, as the Tories and Labour were advocating lower taxes, the Lib Dems were all for 1p increases for health and education respectively.
It is worth noting, finally, that Vince has had meetings with the Treasury who see him as a likely Chancellor in a hung parliament. This would very much put their policies into play. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/liberaldemocrats/7492621/Vince-Cable-in-talks-with-Treasury-about-becoming-chancellor-in-a-hung-parliament.html
