I read on a Jersey travel forum that a passport is not required and so havejust invited my elderly MIL (whose passport has just expiredand who does not want ot renewit) to come away for the weekend with us in June.

Have I boobed? we would be flying with Jet2. I havechecked their website and whilst it refers to other ID, it does not say specifically that a passport is not needed for jersey.
Anyone know what their policy is for Jersey?

Travel to Jersey from the UK

Holders of a British or European passport / identity card.
There are no immigration controls between the United Kingdom (UK) and Jersey and therefore there is no immigration requirement for you to carry your passport or identity card.

However, due to increased security measures at British ports of entry, we would advise all members of the travelling public to carry a form of photographic ID. If you do not have such documents, it would be wise for you to carry a letter from the Home Office confirming your residential status in the UK.

Jet2.com passengers are required to travel with a valid passport, and any necessary visas where required, on all international flights.
Domestic Flights Jet2.com recommends you travel with a valid passport on UK domestic flights but will accept one of the following as an alternative, providing it includes a photograph and is valid on the date of travel:
    • EU or Swiss national ID card
    • CitizenCard
    • Driving licence
    • Student ID card (international, National Union of Students or University/College ID)
    • Armed forces ID card
    • Police warrant card/badge
    • Airport employees security ID pass
    • Government issued ID card
    • Official Company ID card
    • Electoral ID card (EIC issued to eligible N Ireland citizens)
    • UK Council issued bus pass (Senior Citizens only)
    • Fire Arms certificate
We will also permit an expired UK passport for use on domestic flights for up to two years after expiry.

A flight from the UK to Jersey is not a UK domestic flight, but it may be treated as such by Jet2. So, since Jersey / Channel Islands is not mentioned specifically by Jet2, I would recommend that you call them to check on 020 3031 8101 or 020 3031 8102.

You are correct as far as the law is concerned, however the airline is entitled to apply their own conditions of carriage.

I have contacted Jet2 who have confirmed that Jersey is classed as a domestic flight and any photo ID will suffice. Thanks for the phone number jammin.
