well it depends on the situtation. I'd write them a letter explain outlining why you feel you deserve compensation. You won't get if you don't ask0

If the power is out for more then a certain length of time you can. Check the back of your bill. you need to write to the distributor though not your supplier.
I had a good case recently where a distributor had 2/3 of its network out. To get around the compensation time it would switch the electric supply every 3 hours to a section of homes. Then cut them out and then switch it to another section. Very Crafty. But it saves them loads of money.0 -

Nope I work for a supplier. The Worst Distributor I deal with is United Utilies / Norweb.
EDF do tend to be quite good. But to be honest they will do alot of switching if it means it stops them having to pay out large sums of money. Lets be honest this is a compensation culture we live in. Not suprising0 -
