Many of these problems already have solutions there is just a lack of individual and / or government will to change things. Take away cheap oil and people appreciate more the difference between needs and wants.

Going back many years ago. I had a mate who worked for the met office. From time to time he had to ring up Patrick Moore who had a great answering machine.
