Hi SF, hope you don't think I'm intruding (don't usually come to the diaries) but just wanted to say that I know a few probationers who're in the same situation - not that'll help at all.
There's one girl in particular who's been getting on great at her school, loves the kids & the HT loves her, but there's just no free posts next year.
Chin up and start keeping an on the councils' jobs pages - I know ours are due to advertise their vacancies for next session soon.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Apologies for not popping in before, but our poota is Very poorly & I borrow a screen to keep up with the nsds...we all know how the chat flows on there so nuff sed
As to your recent set back, you can at least take solace in knowing you are not alone unfortunatelyMy views on politics will remain silent--for now anyway--as I'm supposed to be seeing The Offspring in all their glory at a friend's wedding. As they are part of the main company of players, tensions & tummies are a little shaken, & that's putting it mildly :rotfl:
I'll just say that I read only this week that you shouldn't focus too hard on the door that has closed, or you may miss the ones that are opening. Good advice, & I hope you can find the courage to see the new opportunities that are there for the taking ((HUGS))
[apologies for the waffle; hope it makes sense, but brain & body are trying to do 100 different things in milliseconds ]

Wonderful words of wisdom BMF.....as ever!
The IT Centre where I work is closing at the end of July, as well as the other two in the college...that's 73 memebers of staff being made redundant in one swoop...cost cutting at it's most gruesome.
However, I still do invigilating about the various campuses...not great money, but it does (and will) keep me occupied as well as bringing some pennies in. Also, it allows me access to other departments within the college.
Just yesterday I was at a loose end between invigilations, and I went to say "hi" to a former colleague in another department. She has given me a few ideas about possible teaching opportunities both within and outside the college, in areas where I would love to expand into. It is in the area of knitting and home-crafting (which I do whenever I get the oportunity), not IT, which will be flooded by unemployed IT staff soon.
So as BMF says, have a look round for some open doors...even in areas you don't expect to find any, IYSWIM! Think I have taken this analogy a bit too far...!
Sorry about waffling...just getting a bit excited about possible new beginnings. Must go and do some research (ie search out patterns, wools and new ideas)....bliss!
Have a break and unwind this weekend SF, who knows what great oportunites are just round the corner for you!

Thanks for the advice everyone - I'm trying to see this as a positive step, as, if I'm totally honest, I've not been that happy with the way things have been this year anyway. There are a couple of jobs I am in the process of applying for, so fingers crossed something happens with that.
If not, then I'm happy to work anywhere, just to have some kind of income coming in. We'll cross that bridge if it comes to it.
Trying to stay positive.....!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
