The screen goes blank quite a lot but the menus of which channel is currently selected are still on the screen. In the same manner with on demand services I'll often select a video but though the menu says "playing" and shows the time the screen is blank!!!
Finally, the box sometimes freezes when starting up.
Anyone else experienced this and is it the result of switching the box off at the mains every night?

I was told never switch the box off at the mains at night. Seems the download information to the box during the night.
Phone Virgin and report the box as faulty, it sounds like it is.0 -

It sounds like a signal level or return path issue to me,you need a service tech out but before that,have you checked all the F Connections are tight?
PS,you're not useing any DIY extensions from the wall Isolator to the V+ Box are you?Quite often the cable you get from the shops is no use whatsoever for cable use.

This is the classic HDMI HDCP handshaking issue that V+ boxes can supper from.
Hence you see the menus but due to the copy-protection handshaking failing it won't display the picture.
Usually switching the TV off and back on again clears it, other times you might need to also put V+ in standby, then you might however need to reboot the V+
The HDMI on V+'s are quite flaky. Seems some TVs they have more issues with too.
