I would appreciate any opinions on this back up.

I need something idiot proof. Is this worth getting or can you recommend something else?
I have seen 1TB back ups mentioned on here before and they were cheaper. Would I be better with one of those?

it is VERY expensive for what it is. Curries offer a few days ago sold 500G 2.5 drives for £42
just keep your eyes open on this site http://www.hotukdeals.com/computers/deals/hot
A bigger capacity is usually better.0 -
If you want simple then have a look at the Hewlett Packard SimpleSave.
I recently got a 1Tb one from Tesco for £80.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Which Operating System? If you have Vista, there is a built-in utility. Then you can just buy an inexpensive external drive.0

Thanks for the replies.
The operating system on the desktop and laptop is Vista and the netbook is Win 7.
I don't have a clue about backing up. Does it back up the operating system and everything or is it just data?
I have mostly the same data on each pc so not sure if I need to back them all up or just the desktop which is the oldest and probably has most on it.0 -

Depending on the version of Windows Vista you have, there are two approaches you can take to backing up files: Automatic Backup, which backs up just your files and data; or Complete PC Backup, which backs up everything on your PC, including the operating system and applications.0 -
Like everything on QVC, it is over priced.0

Also look at the backup threat. It is really straightforward.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -

If it's mostly the same data already copied between each PC, then I'd say you're fairly well backed-up already. The likelihood of all three failing at the same time is so remote as to be negligible.
If you have the install disks for each OS on each PC, you can always re-install from those.
As long as your data is in discrete folders from the OS, and you have spare space on each machine, you can backup folders between the machines (they are all accessible on your network, I take it?).
Let's say your 'My Documents' folder is 5Gb on the desktop. If you have 20Gb free on your laptop, take a copy of My Documents to the laptop, leaving still 15Gb free - but your post suggests you've done this already?0
