They've taken £74 from me for no reason! And over on the Paypalsucks forum a few people have reported the same thing happened at the same time (around midnight)
I had £111.28 on Saturday morning so I submitted a transfer to my bank of £111. Later that day I received £65 from an ebay sale. Then minutes after midnight they took £74 for "Balance adjustment for excess funds transferred to bank" then reversed the bank transfer stating "A withdrawal was reversed to recover a negative balance". I only had a negative balance because they took £74 from my account! What is excessive funds withdrawn to bank all about? My account is verified and I've been all over the Paypal "help" system and find no reference to withdrawal limits in fact is says when your accountis verified there are no limits. My balance is now £99.xx when it should be £173.
Anyone else have a similar problem - I'm hoping it's some kind of glitch and not a fee hidden in their terms and conditions

I just found threads about it on the ebay forum. It does look like a glitch. People have mentioned a connection to funds withdrawn on 23 July and sure enough on 23 July I withdrew £74 to my bank account.
CHECK YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNTS!
I'm off to bed now, a bit less bothered0 -

Transfer From PayPal 6 Aug. 2006 Completed Details £12.50 GBP £0.00 GBP

has anyone spoken to paypal yet ?
i have been on hold with them for 20min now.0 -
Paypal have left me with a negative balance after making an adjustment for the same as OP excess funds to bank.
I have checked my bank and what seems to have happened is that the funds to bank on 23 July has been repeated this weekend. It appears that Paypal have issued the same payment twice and have merrily then just deducted it from the Paypal account. I always keep my account to the minimum and as soon as it goes over the 50 pounds I transfer to my bank account. As I had done this on Friday and Paypal have now deducted the twice paid amount I am left with a negative balance. No warning no explanation just left to me to try and work it out. I did try to phone but gave up as I couldn't bear the holding music!0 -
Just recieved an email from paypal that says
We are writing to advise you that due to a technical error each Direct Debit payment you sent on the 23 and 24 July to fund your PayPal payments was inadvertently debited from your bank account twice.
To rectify this error, on the 5 August, we added funds that equal each duplicate debit to the balance of your PayPal account.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this error may have caused you. Our team is working with our banking partners to ensure that this does not happen again in the future. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to call us on 08707 307 191.
Does this mean the money they put into my paypal account is mine ?
EDIT:
Just to add to my post i have checked my bank and they did take the money twice. The 2nd DD was on 7-8-06 and was for the 2 amounts paypal put into my account so to answer my own question YES the money is mine....0 -
The exact same happened to me. I withdrew £68 from my Paypal account to my bank account last week. I didnt really notice but it went in on Thursday. Now Saturday the exact same amount from Paypal went back in again. They emailed saying they have taken it back instantly from my Paypal funds account.
There was only £10 in my Paypal account so now im minus £58 in my Paypal account. Im going to leave it like that for a while now until my sales on Ebay pay it off. Is this a problem or do they stitch me up if i just leave it in negative figures?
Thanks0 -
yes the money in the paypal account is yours - the reason being you'll see a direct debit come off your account this morning for the same amount. all well and said putting money back into paypal account but it is needed into the bank account - who is going to pay for bank charges, paypal are useless at the best of times. also if they have refunded you the monies into yout paypal account and the dd rejects then hassle of them claiming it back. useless but we are stuck with them. I had a £4 dd come off last week, email yesterday to say error in applying again and they deposited £4 into paypal account as there is another £4 dd this morning - check your bank accounts!!!!!!!!0
