I am looking at 2, one is wide and one is slim ... cost is roughly the same as the slim ones have been reduced;) but what i wanted to know is which ones are easier to use and work best? I have very thick hair btw - not too long, and am looking to get the Remington S8100 (slim) or the S8200 (wide) wet 2 straighteners.
TIA all!
TIA all!

id go for the wide but i dont know abt remington as only ghd work on my hair.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

I prefer long and slim to short and fat
but thats 'cos I've got short hair silly
Seriously, my hair is very short and thick - the slimmer ones definately work better for me.
If your hair is longer then the thicker ones may be better.
I think it depends on the length of your hair Ally. It doesn't matter too much about the thickness as you can always straighten it in smaller sections. My eldest has really thick hair and I use my slimline Ghd's and do hers in small sections and it works really well.
When I had chunkier straightners I found them awkward to use but dont know whether its because my hair is short or because I'm a clumsy mare?
Me thinks I'm waffling now
ps, nice to see you Ally :jSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
have both wide and thin ghd wide ones are better but the thin ones are better for curls.0

My experience from having long thick hair and also my 2 daughters is that the wide plate straighteners are best. The set i got her at xmas were charles worthington wide plate ceramic heat up in seconds and have digital temperature which can be adjusted from 100oC up to 200oC and they are just brilliant. Takes just minutes to do your hair.
Now me and my other daughter and always using the other daughters. We have had in the past Babyliss, Remington, Vidal Sasson glass, Andrew Collinge but none of them come even close to these. I do think the wide plates help longer hair as you are able to do it quicker.0 -
I use Toni & Guy mini's for blokes (err, coz i'm a bloke
). Dunno if those are any use to you, but for a user perspective I think they do a great job.
Failing that I steal my girlfriend's GHD's. I don't know what kind they are or if they are wide etc, all I know is they are bigger than the ones I have!
In my experience with these things, I only tend to use straighteners now and again to tame the waveyness. It pays to spend good money on a good set though, GHD if you can afford them or the Toni & Guy range which is not so expensive.
We have both tried cheap and cheerful ones and they are absolute rubbish. So to save money in the long run it pays to splash out first time if you really want a set of straighteners.
Hope I was of some help, even if i'm a perfectly comfortable heterosexual bloke!0 -
Personally I have tried both - and much prefer slim ones.
I have long thick hair.
The trick I think - what ever you choose is to do it in very thin sections, so it takes a while - but the result is so much better.0 -
Thanks guys, have looked again and think I will go for the slim ones!
Just gonna cash in all my amazon vouchers so I get it for free;) :j If they sold GHD I probably would have got them (for free too!;)), but they don't seem to have any
Thanks again all!
P.S. Nice to see you again too Quackers me fruit cake.... have missed ya you nutty so and so:D

Hi Sarah,
A little light reading for you
GHD Hair Straighteners (2005 merged threads)
ghd hair straighteners (merged threads)
I think the general consensus is that they are worth it.

Now I have both sets - greedy I know but I'll explain.
The GHD's are my main set whilst the wet 2 straight stay at my OH's instead of having a hairdryer and a set of straighteners there, and Wilko's were selling them cheap so it was also better than buying both.
However the GHD's knock socks off the remingtons and I find that if you don't put the remingtons in the holder between straightenings they don't tend to stay that hot. The GHD's may cost more but they are so worth it.0
