Get tinted roof and do not worry about the light in the adjoining room. Thomas Sandersons are the most expensive (£3-4k), there are many alternatives but verticals 3 for £100 ish is possible.for the sides, but take up the most room. They are the most versitile for shade and privacy. Total heat shade can only be achieved from outside, so a wind out awning is better than any blinds. Pleated roof blinds are expensive and after 10 yrs in that trade one thing became apparent. 99.9% of the time the blinds are closed (ie offering shade), 0.09% they are opened.

Thanks knowloads, I'll look out for 3 for £100 deals. And we were looking at getting a tinted roof so I'm pleased you suggested that. :)

I used this company on ebay :-

I can honestly say 1 of the best company's i have ever dealt with. I was a little unsure of using them, with it being ebay any all but there feed back was 100% so i gave them a call.

They sent me out a sample book of the fabrics (i had the EZ blinds fitted)

For 10 small blinds and 12 big blinds it was £640 all in. This was miles cheaper then i could find anywhere else. I even messed up a couple of the measurements and they sorted it for me.

I would recommend them to anyone!
  • Rather than messing about with overpriced blinds we did this last week to our conservatory roof and it has worked perfectly.

Buy 10 sheets of 1m x 2m COREX board. Estate agents use it for their boards. It comes in 4 mm thickness and in loads of colours but we simply used white. 10 sheets ordered online works out at about £75 delivered.

We got someone to fit it for us and it took him about an hour to fit but I see no reason not to DIY it.

Cut the board to the size reqiured to just fit inside the roof glass. Get some clear/transluscent mastic and apply it in lines across the sheet. Simply stick the sheet into place.

Result - No sunlight can get through the board and the heat is directed away. The transfomation has been amazing. Glare has been eliminated. At night you get a nice white roof which is really cosy. Total cost fitted was £100.

Best £100 you will ever spend.

Id say about £2000-3000 fitted for roof and sides. But before people can give a quote, you need to get measurements. They are not hard to fit. I do it all day long. Well I do own a blinds company, so would be easy for me. If need any help then give me a pm.
    Kind Regards
    Bill
