BT Vision, do I have to return box ?

Options
I've just cancelled my BT vision/phone/broadband account after my 18 month contract finished, yesterday I got a green pre paid envelope with a letter asking for all the equipment to be returned, do I have to return them or are they now officially mine to do with as I please ?

Read the contract and look at the boxes.

SKY you buy (or are given free) the hardware and it's yours the day you get it. Virgin don't give you anything it's all loaned, it's clearly markedproperty of NTL and needs to be returned when they ask for it (usually months later!!), and yes they do sometimes chase it and bill you if you don't return it.

As they've given you the postage return it and be done with it..

No, of course the equipment is not yours. You should return it.

I was told by BT that I would only have to return items if I didn't complete my 18 month contract with them. I would just phone them and double check.

BT's policy is that they subsidise the equipment charge when taking the contract and as long as you fulfil the contract the equipment is yours to keep you have no obligation to return it. If you cancel within the minimum term though BT have the right to request the equipment is returned and charge you the remaining value of the equipment. If you were out of contract you do not have to return the Vision box.

You did say you cancelled your broadband though so the box is useless at the moment.

I don't think the BT Vision box is of any use when you don't have BT Broadband.
