I've just moved to O2 from Orange through a contract with dialaphone.
I want to keep my old number so i phoned O2 but they said because i've taken the contract out through dialaphone i won't be able to port my old number?!
My girlfriend moved to 3 from Orange last week through dialaphone and she managed to port her number.
Why can't you port your number going from Orange to O2? It's very strange.

Sorry, I dunno!
How many free texts do you get with the new phone? Why not just text everyone in your phonebook with the new number?0 -
did you request this before you took out the contract?
I believe you have to do this at the time rather then after the event0 -
Most companies are only able to port numbers to orange, BT, 3 and T-mobile. For some reason O2 and vodaphone are rarely advertised as accepting/delivering porting. So no, it's unlikely you can.0

With networks other than O2 and Vodafone the PAC is given to the network after connection and the retailer is not involved.
Because O2 and Vodafone ports require some effort by the retailer, many choose not to facilitate these or instead charge a small admin fee.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Thanks for all your responses. I did wonder why you couldn't enter a PAC code on Dialaphones website when other websites let you.
Because i've opened the phone box and put the sim in the phone I can't even return the phone under the long distance agreement.0
