HSBC online applications

Hi
Has anyone got any experience of opening a HSBC account online. Do they normally tell you at the end of the application if you have been successful or declined, or does it come through the post? How long does it normally take on average? Are they a hard bank to be accepted by?
Thanks

I made my application online and got the acceptance decision through the post a few days later asking me to send a sample signature. Can't comment on whether they're easy to be accepted by or not really, but I don't have a history of defaults or late payments if that makes any difference?

With Natwest online it took about one week for the forms to arrive, another week for them to reach the admin stage, and about another two weeks before I got my card and PIN. So all in all about a month for me.

I would imagine Barclays to around the same.

    Thanks for the replies.
So it sounds as if they let you know through the post rather than instantly online. Will have to wait for the postie then :)

Oh thanks for that, but had already done it online . I hate speaking to people unless I have to anyway, which is ironic seeing I work in a call centre :rotfl: I love the net - order shopping, groceries, takeaways.... just need someone to answer the door for me now :D

    I've been waiting 3 weeks!

After 4 days, was asked to go to a branch with ID and a sample signature.

    Not a good start!!!

That's a bit long isn't it!! Looks good though if they have asked you for the proof of ID. I'm not expecting acceptance TBH, will probably get something through the post early on next week.
