Financial Institution Identity Crisis

Martin's site tells me that Saga savings are the same financial institution as HBOS but when I call the phone number on the Saga website the recorded message says "Thank you for calling HSBC"! What's going on here?

Saga's savings are definitely held by HBOS - check out the smallprint at the bottom of this page

It confirms Birmingham Midshires run Saga's savings, and they in turn are backed by Bank fo ScotlandFormer MSE team member0
