I've just read the back of my recorded delivery slip and it says that jewellery and valuables are not covered if lost and to use special delivery for this :o

oppps, fingers crossed the buyer is genuine and honest.

I've been chatting to a few people selling on ebay lately and was surprised to hear that they've noticed a sharp upturn recently on buyers saying goods wern't received, as anyone else felt this or is it nothing new

Up to about a year ago I was losing lots of parcels, my mother never forgave me and my sister as she received neither one of our birthday gifts and one year and couldn't believe that both of them sent from different ends of the country were lost en route! I estimate that at one really low point I was losing 3% of my items with slightly more recorded items going astray than those sent standard mail.

Then I had a terrible Christmas, lost a whole batch and got additional compensation from the RM as they acknowledged a 'issue' within their sorting office, and after that things seemed to start improving. I now lose less than 1% of my parcels, possibly as few as 1 in 300-400 .

I don't think I have ever had a fraudulent claim but just in case I usually put something in the positive feedback I leave about sorry item was lost in post and refund given, or something similar, just in case a pattern develops. I would also assume that if buyers were regularly making fraudulent claims that there address would be flagged by the RM as they do log all claims for loss and the same address coming up over and over again from different sellers must trigger something.
