Confused about tax credits

I'm a bit confused. I was receiving £91.25 a month but mu lil one has just started going to nursery 2 days a week so i called and updated them about costs etc and i've had a payment today of £60. Does this mean my payment has decreased or do you get it seperately to your usual payment. Baffled.

Ring up and ask them-it might be an interim payment and next payment might be larger to take the nursery fees into account.

That doesn't really explain why it's less then what I was getting before he started nursery though. I'll have to give them a ring later.

What day do you usually get paid ? I think you'll probably find this is an extra catch up payment.

I've had a letter updating me about the change in child tax credits due to my change in circumstances and it says from now on i'll get £60 a month. no idea how it works out to be less now he's in childcare. guess i'll have to call them once lil man stips napping on me.

Is your income going up now as you are going back to work? Maybe that's where the change has occured? Deffinitely one to ask them but there are a couple of advisors on here who can advise you whether what you are told is correct., so post back if it still seems wrong when you have spoken to them.

Has your child just reached the age of 12 months? Isn't there additional payments if the child is under 12 months of age?

I'm so annoyed. Tom is only 10 months old but as he's one in June and they average out the payments that explains why they've gone down to 60 from about 91. However I was still confused as he has started nursery but apprently we earn to much and don't get any help at all towards the childcare costs!! That online calculator is a load of tosh!

SuziQ, I'm starting back to work after maternity leave but my previous and current payments are based on last years p60 so no change there. However, when the renewel and my new p60 comes through hopefully we'll get a little help towards childcare as I was on maternity pay for a year. Unfortunatly obviously this will only last for the year.

Any ideas on how much the income threshold is for getting help towards childcare?? It may even be worth me working part time.

    Thanks

    xx

Does anyone have any idea on the income threshold for tax credits. I currently get £60 a month with no help towards the childcare element. Luckily I only need 2 days childcare a week but that still costs me £338. It seems as though it's not worth me working full time. Maybe I could work 2 or 3 days a week for exampl and get the same tax credits but then I won't have to pay the childcare. Any ideas?

    here are the entitlement tables
    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/people-advise-others/entitlement-tables/work-and-child/work-pay-childcare.htm
you would need to compare those to the table for no childcare to see what the impact is
    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/people-advise-others/entitlement-tables/work-and-child/work-no-childcosts.htm

alternatively try puting a few scenraios through entitledto.co.uk
