How on earth could they see that? They have insured your mobile, you just havent lost or claimed for it... They have also insurance your travel arrangements... How do they know you havent been around the world a few times?

Well, their is absolutely no need to be so sarcastic about it! - You don't happen to work for NatWest do you?

I received a "Welcome to advantage blue" booklet 18/19 months ago! and not one letter or update since then? as I said I shouldn't have needed to check my statements as thoroughly as I do with my other account as I only use that account for money coming in from work, etc... I have my "Application Approval" letter which states I have a new 'Step' account but nothing about Advantage Blue is even mentioned!

First of all, I don't think they have been insuring my mobile and the trips I took to Dubi, New York and Miami last year (not showing off, but expensive Holidays = expensive cover)

I currently have a Nokia N96 (worth about £250-£300?) your telling me that I could just loose it/break it and they will get me a new one? even though I had a Samsung D500 when I signed up? (but how do they know that?)

No Way! - I assume to activate these insurance services you have to ring up and give IMIE numbers, Travel Details, etc..... which I have NOT.

How you can defend these people flogging this service to a 16 year old is beyond me, this kind of business practice is shady and unacceptable.

I find it extremely 'convenient' that they don't mention advantage blue on the Application Approval letter why not say "Step account with Advantage Blue"? instead of just "Step account"? also do you realise that their are also 3 or 4 other booklets enclosed with the welcome pack 'Banking Terms and Conditions' 'Step account terms and conditions' 'banking code of conduct' etc.. all 10 - 20 pages completely filled with legal jargon - be honest does anyone really read them? I think not.

You have a responsibility to yourself, and the bank, to check for fraudulent transactions, errors (such as the one it appears you have experienced), important messages, etc...which is something I do regularly with my dormant/little used current accounts.

I do, or at least the main points of any contract I sign up to.

The OP is just mad at his/herself for not reading the book they admitted had arrived.

Ignorance is not an excuse. I'm an avid RBS/Natwest hater, but in this instance I am in agreement with the bank.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
