you'll likely get better value online, your decent big standard dell with a current i3 processor goes for around £380-£420 these days, if your're budget constrained you could look at cheaper enf brands like ACER but you'll have to make do with their cheaper build quality (ie cheap plasticy and likely won't last as long).
do your homework b4 heading out but I doubt you'll get good value wandering round the high street on spec0 -
Thanks for your reply, beyond my budget Im afraid.0

Forget about the High Street, other than maybe Tesco.
Try this Samsung R519 with Windows 7 at £320.0 -
Have a look at quidco and HP - combined with the cashback and they were doing some extra discounts they had a pretty decent HP laptop for around the £320 mark.0

£50 more than budget but decent spec http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/623164/TOSHIBA-L450D-13P
you'll struggle to find a decent laptop on the high street for that price. a netbook would be cheaper but depends on what exactly she would be using it for.
i'd keep clear of pc world

Ebuyer is a great place to look for laptops. I got mine from there when it was on a special and it's one of the best I've used. Plus the prices aren't too bad on there. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
