Help with buying a Sat Nav please
I've decided to treat myself to a sat nav, as if have to go somewhere I am not familiar with I always end up getting lost and then very stressed. I do a lot of mystery shopping aswell and thought if I had a sat nav then I could do jobs in areas I wasn't familiar with.
Can anyone advise me which model to go for please, or what features to go for?
I would like one with a decent sized screen, and one which has a voice you can hear (I'd probably listen to the voice for directions more than by following the map on the screen). I don't need one with all the whistles and bells but want a decent one. No point buying the cheapest model if it needs to be replaced within a year. I don't know what a reasonable one costs, they seem to vary a lot. I don't know if there are ones which come with free upgrades. Oh and it must be simple to use. I would like one which can recalculate journeys if you end up taking a wrong turning too. Lastly are there any extras you might need to purchase aswell with it? Many thanks

I have a TomTom One and am very happy with it. Gives good clear instructions, screen is a good size, and it's very easy to use.
Had a Navman before and wouldn't have another. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
Any thoughts on the Navigon satnavs?0

I've just got a Navigon 4350 Max from Halfords, half price at £150. Its got a widescreen display, free traffic updates for life, bluetooth for handsfree calling, european maps, and a voucher for 2yrs worth of map updates for £15. I had a Tomtom 300Go before and was thinking about upgrading to another Tomtom but read on a lot of places that the new Tomtom's are not so reliable now and are having to be sent away to be repaired. Lots of good reviews for the Navigon though.
You can also get the Navigon 4310 for £140 from Halfords, same as the 4350 except that it doesn't come with bluetooth, but you do get 2yr free safety camera and map updates.
Coming from a Tomtom background I was able to get my new Navigon up and running in no time, very happy with the purchase.0 -

Perhaps not, but it seems it is to switch your brain off when there's one of these in the car.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I suppose yours is switched off when you use:
1) A calculator
2) A PC
3) A washing machine
4) A dishwasher
5) A microwave
Or any one of a myriad other time/labour saving devices.
Oh and by the way, my brain is not switched off when I am using my sat nav, so please do not make sweeping assumptions.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Which of those could cause a serious accident then? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:inmypocketnottheirs wrote: »Oh and by the way, my brain is not switched off when I am using my sat nav, so please do not make sweeping assumptions.
