I went ahead and got the lidl's one (model no. KH1171), was reading some good reviews on ciao. This lidl one is just one tin with 2 paddles, just sitting down to read the manual and recipie book. Any tips on which setting is best to use, much appricited. DeeBee - u must be an expert breadmaker, I am hoping the novelty doesn't wear off!
An update - made my 1st loaf this evening and can not believe it worked so well. I wasn't holding out much hope n getting it right the first go. I used program 1 on rapid bake, 1000g weight. 310ml water, salt, 500g strong bread flour, 1 sachet of sainsburys yeast, added olives and onions when it beeped mid way. Got really worried at this point as the dough was in 2 lumps on each paddle but it all worked out - got quite a big loaf, wouldn't use more than 500g of flour.0 -
I've had mine for well over a year now and I Love it. I get the odd disaster, but that's usually because I've played with the recipe and got it a bit wrong.
Got a malted oat and bran loaf in atm."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0 -
Was trawling through the Biffinet threads last week to see if it was worth getting one of these, or get a panasonic. We decided that if it gave us a near decent loaf it was worth it as it would be a long loaf rather than a square one.
I got one on Monday and it is wonderful! I cannot praise it enough, we have had wonderful loaves from it, far better than any I have had before from a BM, and just as good as bread from a panasonic. There is also a little order form for a replacement bucket and paddles, for £7! Much better than I've seen on ebay.0 -
I have bought a Lidl bread machine this week. I have made a Hazelnut cake from their packet mix and a Ciabatta loaf using their packet of bread mix. I used program 1 (full time of 2.58 hrs) to cook the Ciabatta on med brown top. It came out pale and slightly heavy (not quite risen enough). It asked for lukewarm water in the mix but how hot is lukewarm? Perhaps it was not hot enough for the yeast to rise properly? The packet doesn't say which program setting to use. Can anyone help?
My cake was also just very slightly sad. Both are good enough to eat but could be better I'm sure.
Has anyone used british flour in this bread maker - if so was it successful and can we beg the recipe please???
Keeps me busy in retirement though. Thanks to anyone that can help.0 -
Hi,
I recently bought a Biffinet bread machine from Lidl ...had a couple of disasters, mainly dry flour still in the bread. I have been using Lidl own bread making mix, so simple just put in the warm water, sprinkle the mix on top..I prefer the Granary mix, but also find a 50/50 mix with the wholemeal good too. I do a 3/4 size one, this gives me a good size loaf, with a dark setting which I find helps cook the loaf through. However I also now just give the whole thing a quick mix with the spatula which prevents the dry bits. I also had good results using the speed setting...sorry don't know what they are called as mine are all in French!! But the Vite setting!! I also made some marmalade which was good...didn't have to stand there for ages stirring it.

Hi all,
I bought the multigrain lidl mix flour but found it bit salty, though it came out perfectly cooked.
I think I am going to stick to just strong bread flour, bought some from sainsburys - 48p for 1.5kg and will get 3 loaves out of this.
I think it comes down to the measurements. This is what I am using.
one cup of warm water (the plastic little cup that comes with the machine, thnk it is 300ml)
one measuring jug of flour (its just a cheap plastic meeasuring jug, has markings for 500g of flour - (basically one full jug)
one sachet of yeast0 -
I've got a Bifinett KH1171, have made at least half a dozen loaves, but not one has come out okay. I am getting desperate. I have only tried the Lidl bread mixes, as the recipes baked from scratch sound too complicated for me.
Anyone got a basic recipe that has worked well for them in this machine please?
Tigergold, I read your comments about baking a loaf on Prog 1 Rapid Bake, please could you tell me the name of the strong bread flour you used, and also how much salt, and what colour crust you selected, and what order you put the ingredients into the tin.
Sorry for being such a pain, and many thanks to anyone who can help me with this. At the moment I feel like throwing the bread machine in the dustbin!
Also, on the Lidl bread mixes, it only gives instructions for the smallest size loaf. Anyone know how to convert the instructions to make a bigger loaf?0 -
Hi Homin Pigeon, Dont give up!
I used half a bag of the lidl bread mix with 300ml of water.Makes a loaf that fillls the tin.
Put the water in first and then the flour on top. THat its add nothing else to this as the bread mix is quite salty. think i used the program for brown bread as the mix had different kinds of flour, for weight it said on the pack and did medium brown.
For your own mix - i have used Sainsburys own brand strong bread flour, (50p for 1.5kg) or Lidl bread flour in a blue bag , similar price.
310ml water, salt, 500g strong bread flour, 1 sachet of sainsburys yeast.
In the instructions it says u must put in it thie order.
water, pinch of salt, pinch of sugar, flour with yeast ontop of the flour.
Used proogram 1 - regular, with 1000g weight, and the rapid brown.0 -
Thanks very much for that, tigergold. I will keep trying, but it is very frustrating when I keep failing! Yesterday I made a loaf with a bread mix from Lidl and after the initial disappointment I couldn't help but laugh - it came out at just over one inch high. A bread slab rather than a bread loaf!
I am starting to wonder if there is something wrong with the machine, although hubby insists I should just keep experimenting with it. I have only had it for about six weeks.
Another frustration is that the recipes, if you make them from scratch, don't actually give you the name of the flour - they just give you a number. Can't understand what all that is about.
I looked in Lidl for a bread mix for white bread, but all the ready-made mixes were for brown bread. At least, that's all I could find in my local Lidl. Anyone used a white bread mix in the Bifinett with success? Details would be much appreciated.
Lots of reviewers rave about the Panasonic, but I was put off getting one because I don't like the shape of the loaf tin. I was drawn to the Bifinett because of the traditional-shaped tin.0 -
yes lidl bread mixes are more brown flours. To make white bread i just use the strond bread flour. I can't understnd how you ended up with a "bread slab" - maybe there is something wrong with the machine, the elements not getting hot enough. When i made the lidl bread mix, the dough rised till it touched the lid and the loaf fillled the tin. this is my first breadmaker so i'm am not an expert on these things, check these things, maybe someone else has any idea:
*Did you put the water in first and then the flour
*Are the paddles in ok
*Does your dough rise before it gets to the baking stage.
*which prog. did you use to make the bread mix?
*Are you using FAST ACTION yeast - i have only found this sold in sachets, i did buy yeast in a tin but this is not fast action, needs mixing with water, left to activate and it said not suitable for breadmakers.0
