Vodafone - moving from SIM only contract to full contract
Hi folks, looking for some advice,
have had a 30 day rolling SIM only contract with vodafone for 3 months. I have been using this in a handset I recieved from T-mobile while I ran down the rest of my tmobile contract which had become useless since I moved to a non coverage area.
Im finally free of T mobile and starting to think of moving to a full vodafone contract, around the same price I was on before.
Would Vodafone upgrade my rolling 30 day contract to a 18/24 month contract with a handset, or would i need to apply for a new connection? I really want to keep my number and avoid a new credit check on my slowly improving credit file.
I might just buy a cheap handset otherwise.

If you call into a Vodafone store you will be able to look at the choice of handsets and the staff will help you choose a price plan to suit your needs. You will also come out of the store with a new phone.
Alternatively, have a look at the handsets available online and give Customer Care a call, and they be able to advise you of the price plans available.
If you wish to keep the same number you cannot apply online, it needs to be done through a store or through Customer Care sales.
You would have been credit checked for your 30 day SIM, so would not need to undergo a further credit check.0 -

Thanks Ann, told me everything I needed to know! :rotfl:

Before you sign for an 18 month/2 year contract, please take a look at the number of people who have lost jobs or in some ways find that they can no longer afford to pay the contracts they signed when things were a lot brighter.
You are currently on the very best deal - 30 day rolling contract. Better deals come along - simply change when it suits you.
You also need to analyse exactly what you want from a mobile phone service. If you regularly use all the features of the latest phones then you need to do the arithmetic around "rolling 30-day contact plus buy your own phone -v- 18-month contract".
But if you really only want to make calls and text friends, then ask yourself honestly "Would a £50 phone be good enough?"
The networks and phone companies have been very subtle in marketing their services and hardware. They have created a desire for people to have the latest gadget and, do you know what, within a year all the gadget freaks have grown tired of the hot phone they got last year and need a new fix for the latest gizmo. And that costs £££ one way or another.
Rant over ! Whatever you decide, good luck.0 -
Hi clarab,
Did you decide to upgrade in the end? It would be great to see an update about what you decided to do.
Also, if there is anything that we can help with, please let us know and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Espi
