I am pretty sure what I require is simple but I cant suss it out
I have a 4gb MP3 player from Aldi which I ought to use at the gym
I have added various MP3s bu want to listen to them in a "shuffle" style order.
At present whenever I go to the gym I am listening to the same hours worth of music as the MP3 player just seems to start back at the same track and run in the same order
Can anyone help or advise any software that will help me do this (Simpler the better)
Thanks in advance

Tevion / Quesh 42623 I think

I hope my original question makes sense
In a nutshell all I am trying to do is get the player to either shuffle or to start the music at the place it was last paused.0 -
It's an iPod Shuffle lookalike.
But the iPod has a sequential/shuffle switch, this Aldi player probably doesn't have one.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Well, if it doesn't have a built in shuffle feature, I think there's software you can get that randomly renames the files on it, so assuming it plays them in alphabetical order they'd be shuffled. Only problem is every time you wanted a new order you'd need access to a computer to do it.0

Cheers Darksun That sounds exactly what i am looking for.
Anybody have any ideas of any tried and tested software for the above.
I will give it a google in the meantime0 -
Assuming you have used all 4Gb of space on the player, I would set up at least three music folders on your PC. Copy all your mp3s to each of these folders.
Sort one of them by file name, another by date modified, and another by file size.
That will give you three different 'shuffles' - you could gain more by renaming files, then generating three sort orders again.
It'll use up a bit of HDD space, but get you the result.....
Alternatively, after listening to one hour's worth at the gym, delete that hour's worth from the player, and you'll get the next hour at the next visit. Delete that, and again until you've cleared the player, Then copy a different shuffle back to the player.
You may just find it easier and cheaper to cancel the gym membership so you can splash out on an iPod Shuffle......0 -

That probably wouldn't work though, since the sort order is local to your computer and wouldn't be preserved when the files are copied across.
Anyway, as for software to rename the files, you could try http://www.1-4a.com/rename/rename-features.htm - no idea if it's any good though0 -
You could try upgrading its firmware (be sure you know what your doing) http://www.nodevice.com/search/search.html?text=42623+4GB+MP3+Player&search_area=all
I have a 2gig MP3, the shuffle was rubbish so i updated the firmware, this meant I could also change the boot up to display my name when turned on, as well as having sub folders (the original didnt allow for sub directories like cd1 n cd2 for an album).
Of course if you mess up the firmware your screwed, so be sure to make a back up of the original just in case.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Thank you for all the suggestions
The reason for buying the player was a cheap option for something to listen to at the gym rather than taking my IPod classic and getting it damaged and also size.
I have gone for what seems the easiest option which is listen to music delete off player listen to next batch etc etc. and just keep a master file on PC with all MP3s on0
