Eggy smell somtimes In Bathroom?

My bathroom is in a terraced and at the back of the house, now I clean the shower drain, bath drain and sink drain every month with soda crystals and always keep it clean and the toilet too. Just the last month or so when I go in the bathroom the odd day I get a whiff of an bad eggy smell, and then other days its never there.

Now all the pipes at rear of the yards are shared and behind that is milliken industrials who make carpet and tiles. Could it be the mill causing these smells coming back up or is it a sign of a possible blocked pipe??
I have checked my drain cover in the yard and I regularly bleach and clean the drain there twice a year. Its alway clear so whats causing the smell ?

But its only the odd day a week?

I get this smell from my kitchen sink-bizarrely not the main sink but the little one next to it-they share the same pipework so I have no idea how that happens.

Sulphur. Look on the ingredients of shampoo. Biological decomposition in the drains I suspect.

  • we get that too and always thought it was our wood work getting soaked and rotting, but must take a look at the ingredients of my shampoos etc, very interesting!

Sodium laureth sulphate and others I imagine.

I know exactly what it is as i had the same problem in the bathroom....

Sorry can't mind the name of the pipe.... But basically it is meant to go from the back of your toilet up into the loft and out through the roof...to get rid of gas emissions(if you know what i mean lol)

Anyway a lot of pipes in fact only go into the loft and the gasses do not escape. This is down to Lazy Workmen leaving the pipe open in your loft and not taking it out through the roof.

Hope this helps. I got mine fixed and it wasn't cheap !!!!

IIRC Its called a soil vent pipe.
There are a number of regulations regarding SVP's. It is not necessary for all houses to vent out through the roof (particularly in new build houses) as a (?SP Dergo / Durgo) valve may be fitted in certain circumstances. But you need to research your particular instance.
