    Why bother telling them, if their business already records calls then they should be honest when their often not and it would put them on their guard, more likely to hear the phone being put down I would think.
    I would consider recording and making public two seperate permissions.
    The OP only needs to refer to the call recording then if there is something amiss they just need the business to check their call record, the OP can say they wrote the details down during the original call.
    If its the local plumber/builder then thats a different matter.
