Theres no way that the drive WASNT formatted if it was still infected.

He said that it was a fresh installation but admitted that he downloaded driver software from a "third party" website which was probably dodgy in hindsight!

I ended up installing Kaspersky I Security 2010.

When I ran a scan with it, it identified Networm-Win32-Kido.ih and I think Deleted it.

I have since ran several Scans with Kaspersky again and SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes, they didn't identify anything.

Do you think it is OK to relax and just use the PC as normal?
  • TBH with you mate, once a virus is in, its done its damage and its just not going to get any better....no matter what software you use. I would format the pc totally. Backup what you can 1st and then just re install the OS as a fresh copy. Any problems I am willing to help you out mate. I run a IT Support and Web Hosting business and can give you a hand. Drop me a PM and we can chat.

If the machine can pass a full scan with Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy, SUPER AntiSpyware, and ESET's Online scanner I would feel fairly confident.
Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.

    Incorrect.

I've removed viruses and trojans of my mates computers.

No fresh installs of the OS required.

    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

I have now also ran scans with Spybot S&D and Eset and it came back clean.......hopefully it should be ok now.

    Thanks!
