Any alternative to getting a BT line installed

I had a dispute with BT regarding a billing matter 6 months ago and stopped using my landline. I have O2 mobile internet access through a dongle and I pay a month in advance - £15 per month which I have been happy with but I would prefer to access it through a land line but still have O2 as my broadband provider and they have offered me a great deal as they say I could be paying a lot less than I am at the moment if I access through landline.
I don't want any more dealings with BT. Is there any other way I could do this i.e. through another company other than BT or do they have monopolised this option.
As far as I know I still have a land line but BT have cut me off. BT have not pressed me for the outstanding payment of the disputed bill. Any advice would be great as to how I can sort this out. Thanks

You could try the Post Office. It will still be a BT line though which you'll need anyway for O2. Or you could wait for the much delayed O2 phone line however it is possible that the second coming or possibly the end of the universe will beat them.0

You could try moving to any broadband and phone deal with decent customer service and hoping that they'll be able to help you resolve the issue with BT enough to move.
If BT really aren't going to take the matter any further that should solve it.
Plusnet and Madasafish spring to mind - they're both owned by BT but have better customer service (I had a good experience with Plusnet a few months back when BT were being confusing).
Virgin Media could be an option too - it depends what's available in your area though. You can search here http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/compare/broadband.asp and then order by 'line rental' to find the non-BT phone services available.0
