some question about leaving AOL (talk talk)

Options
I am wanting to cancel my AOL (talk talk I think) broadband contract but I dont know what their cancelation number is - does anyone have a copy?
I am joining a new isp so what questions should I ask AOL - I know I need to find out what my mac code is, date and time that my internet ends and the date that the last direct debit is taken from my account.
I take it that AOL take contract fees in advance not in arrears
how much notice do you need to give AOL as I am no longer under contract?
many thanks people

I have contacted AOL and they have told me they will send my mac code by e-mail within 5 working days - that seems a long wait is that normal
also they told me after I connect to the new provider I should contact them to cancel my service and there might be a crossover of a week or so between the new service and their service ending where I will be paying for both services, they told me that always happens and cant be helped

Hi, I think that is normal but I think they're required by law to give it to you within 14days. I know BT give their MAC codes over the phone though.

I was expecting my mac code immediately over the telephone but if I have to wait 5 days so be it, I really just want to get things moving and switch as I have another isp provider already chosen - although I haven't contacted them yet

A MAC has to be supplied within 5 working days. With many providers you can go through the sign up process and then submit your MAC a few days later.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

thanks for the info macman but I would rather wait till the code come through that way if AOL muck things up it wont matter too much, anyway I have just paid for another month with AOL so I want to get some use out of it first and maybe change over within the first fortnight

I have just received my mac code from AOL that was quick, I didn't realise it would take ten days to move to another provider
I will be moving to "be unlimited" - has anyone here heard of a site called "topcashback.co.uk" they are offering me £40 if I switch through their site, I have never heard of them so I am wondering if they are legit.

Both Quidco and Topcashback are currently offering £40. Yes they are legit.

I like the look of topcashback as they dont charge £5 a year admin and they can send your cash by cheque if you want
Do you use any of them macman ?
