all i would do in the above situation is write a letter back to the dca recorded delivery stating that as far as you are concerned you had paid the debt by return to britannia. Therefore you consider the matter closed and will not enter into any further correspondence, furthermore any action contemplated will vigorously be detested(contested) as there charge is a penalty and therefore not enforceable by law.I will also report to the relevant departments.

leave it at that if you then have further mail report them, but do not reply to there mail.
  • Act like a crazy. Backcomb your hair, titter loudly and fling pennies at them. They'll soon go away.

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Sorry -I keep sniggering at this - the scary thing is i can picture it like a film in my head - how many pennies do you suggest.:D

That's exactly what I have done, and I am also reporting them to the Credit Services Association as I have informed them that I dispute the amount owed to Britannia (ie I owe nothing) and yet they are continuing to pursue me. The woman who contacted me from them said they have breached their policy and a complaint will be investigated should I make one.
My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal

I detest everything bailiffs do. I think you meant "contested"! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Still it made me snigger though! :T

I know, I do silly things when I'm tired too. Like bidding on ebay for instance!

  • I've just had a heated discussion with a lovely lady from 'Debt Managers Ltd'.

I had a final bill from Britannia Music at the end of June, which I duly paid by return by cheque. Britannia cashed the cheque last week. However, between me sending the cheque and them cashing it, they referred me to the above debt collection agency, without, it seems, giving me a chance to pay.

The debt collection agency have now obviously added on their charges. I called them today to tell them I didn't owe Britannia any money as I had paid by return and they had cashed the cheque blah blah.

Basically the DCA are saying they were referred the case on the 24 July - I sent my cheque well before that - it's not my fault that Britannia took ages to cash it. I tried to explain that to the woman, who just repeated over and over 'you owe us the money'. After insisting I don't, she advised 'well we'll send our doorstep collectors round to see you then'.

I'm so looking forward to meeting them! However, I've never met one of these nice gents before - can anyone give me any advice as to what I should do to make their visit a happy one?

Don't open the door but when they arrive, stand in your front window and before swiftly pull down your trousers and display 'bog off' written on your bum cheeks for their enjoyment.
