Just wondering - have you actually sought legal advice regarding this situation?

No - I've sought MSE advice! I only got the DCA letter this morning, didn't know a thing about it until then - I paid the bill when I got it and thought no more of it.

Your letter looks fine to me. I would add the date you cancelled the account - just so they can see just how long all this nonsense is taking. If/when they reply to your letter, tell them to take your details off their database, so they don't start bombarding you with 'Come back to us' mail. Good luck with it.

To echo SBF40's comment, you may want to look into legal advice, or even counter-threaten the DCA with a civil suit for going outside their bounds and undue distress. It all costs money, I know, but it may be worth it to teach them a lesson.

Sadly I have no money for a civil suit - I might phone the CAB on Monday though. My plan is to phone Britannia first on Monday, see what they have to say for themselves and then send the letters.

I would also say you cancelled it on line- did you keep copy of confirmation of this etc

Didn't get a confirmation - and don't have a copy of the sent email as you do it through their site, not direct from your inbox. But I didn't question not getting a confirmation email, as the bill they sent confirmed they had cancelled the account.

Bullies they are, fight them all the way.
Trying to scare and intimidate, they don't realise you have the finest DFW brains in Britain in your corner.
You go sister, and don't let these people bully you. EVER.
